Kevin Spenst
Role: President
Kevin joined Mainland Construction Materials in April of 2017. He is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with designation in BC, AB, SK, and MB. Kevin spent over 21 years in the construction materials industry with the LafargeHolcim Group prior to joining Mainland. Working in all provinces in Western Canada, Kevin is a safety focused senior manager with extensive experience in construction and construction materials, aggregate production, mine development, construction projects, customer relations, safety, environment and human resources.
Stephen P. Hardy
Role: Chief Financial Officer
Stephen joined Mainland Construction Materials in June 2015. He is a chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA) in British Columbia and he joined Mainland from PFB Corporation, a publicly-traded manufacturing company where he spent 15 years as Chief Financial Officer. Steve has extensive management experience obtained in a variety of different industries and he leads the financial management and accounting activities at Mainland.
Sandy Heer
Role: Manager, Human Resources
Sandy started with Mainland Construction Materials as a Human Resources Manager in March 2018. After completing an MSc in Organizational Psychology and Business in the UK, Sandy commenced her HR career with Accenture UK. Since then, she has worked in a variety of industries, both private and public sector.
Jeff Davis
Role: General Manager, Aggregates
Jeff has been with Mainland Construction Materials since 1999 serving in a variety of roles. Jeff holds a Diploma of Mechanical Engineering from BCIT. Jeff’s role at Mainland includes leading the Aggregate Group’s operations, sales & marketing activities, overseeing the sales representatives, dispatch operations, logistics planning and marine transportation activities.
Gerrod McAuley
Role: Operations Manager
Gerrod has been with Mainland Construction Materials since 2007. Prior to joining the Mainland team, Gerrod accumulated 10-plus years of experience in the aggregates industry, specifically crushing and processing rock. In 2014, Gerrod was appointed Mine Manager at the Jamieson Quarry where he successfully managed the transition from a contract crushing operation to in-house manufacturing. In 2016, Gerrod was appointed Mine Manager Cox Station Quarry, Mainland’s largest quarry. Gerrod has extensive aggregates processing experience with expertise in all aspects of the processing cycle including: drilling; blasting; loading & hauling; crushing; screening; and pit development.
Colin Herbert
Role: Equipment Manager, Aggregates
Colin started his career with Mainland Construction Materials in 1996 at the Cox Station Quarry. In 2006 Colin accepted the role of maintenance foreman for the Cox Station Quarry. In 2014 Colin became the Aggregates Equipment Manager for the Cox Station, Jamieson Quarries and Depots. Colin’s primary areas of responsibility are the management of the company’s fleet of aggregate equipment, implementing industry best practices, and ensuring all aspects of maintenance are well supported within the company.
Carl Teubert
Role: Operations Manager, Asphalt and Construction
Carl graduated with a Business Diploma from Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta and has been a part of Winvan paving since 2000. He brings a wealth of experience in road construction in the Lower Mainland which enables him to foster a safe and welcoming environment for employees. His background as a Journeyman Concrete Finisher gave him the experience required to move into Superintendent, Project Manager and Estimator roles over the years. In 2013 Carl was promoted to Operations Manager in charge of the day to day operations of the Winvan Paving division of Mainland Construction Materials.
Eric Morris
Role: Purchasing Manager
Paul Morris
Role: GM, Construction
Paul has worked for Winvan Paving in various capacities since 2001. He has a proven track record of scheduling, estimating and managing projects on time and budget. Paul holds a BA in Geography, a Gold Seal Certification in Roadbuilding and Heavy Construction, and a Masters Certificate in Project Management.
Dani C. Miller
Role: Manager, Compliance
Dani joined Mainland Construction Materials in 2012. Dani has acquired experience as both an environmental regulator and as a private technologist working in the sand, gravel and ready mix industry. Dani’s role at Mainland includes managing the Company’s occupational health and safety programs, quality control processes and its sustainability reporting. Additionally Dani is responsible for ensuring Mainland’s operations are fully compliant with environmental, industry and municipality requirements.
