We are currently looking for a Full-Time Mining Engineer to work out of our Cox Quarry location (Sumas Mountain, Abbotsford BC).

The Position:
The position of Mining Engineer will be responsible for managing construction of existing and new projects, as well as the Quality Control function and personnel of the plant. This role will involve advising and planning on appropriate support systems, processes and equipment for safe and environmentally sound extraction activities. The Mining Engineer will also coordinate, schedule project work and generate mine plans including drill and blast designs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Mining, or related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible mine technical or supervision experience.
• Knowledge of design specifications, plant equipment maintenance and basic understanding of related mechanical equipment is required. Certified engineer is desirable. 
• Experience leading a team
• Competent in latest version of AutoCAD, Excel and word processing software.   
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects with limited supervision, and communicate effectively with colleagues. 
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional time-management, organization, and prioritization skills to meet deadlines

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

• Promote, lead and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors and consultants
• Manage the day-to-day oversight of QC team and activities in conjunction with the continuous development of people and process to achieve performance excellence
• Understand the planning, permitting, and design of production facilities related to the aggregate processing industry.
• Assist as needed with analysis of geology and mine planning.
• Plan and oversee engineering aspects of mine development.
• Evaluate technical operating efficiency of mine production equipment.
• May be called on to manage a team to accomplish designated projects.
• Draw up technical reports for managers.
• Tracking rates of production and evaluating the operation’s effectiveness by addressing operational issues, performing informal inspections and establishing rapport in order to offer assistance.
• Monitors budgets, development of cost estimates, estimates of project needs, and schedules work to meet deadlines and technical specifications.
• Craft, present, and complete final reports on productivity, geological and geotechnical risks, mining rates and equipment capabilities with originality
• Devise new approaches and apply current processes in new ways every single day
• Analyze technical data in real-time and draw conclusions from comparative situations
• Complete monthly, quarterly drone flights at all of our aggregate operations, fill sites and depot’s for inventory, mine planning and fill capacity.
• Plan and organize work for the reclamation and sustainability of our growing operations
• Plan and outline effective implementation of change for our autonomous operation
