Mainland Construction Materials is currently looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to work out of its various shop locations between Abbotsford and New Westminster. This is a FT, unionized position as part of a close-knit team, in a growing company and is ideal for candidates who can work a day shift with the flexibility of afternoon shift from time-to-time.

-Working in a safety-oriented team environment, the full-time, experienced Heavy-Duty Mechanic is required to repair and maintain our fleet of heavy equipment, support assets and on-road vehicles on either our Aggregates or Paving lines of business.
Required Qualifications
-Minimum 1st year Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice with a strong mechanical aptitude.
-Excellent computer skills; Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
-Fluent in English for literacy skills
-A priority for safety of one’s self and their coworkers
-Class 7(N) Vehicle License
Preferred Qualifications
-Qualified Heavy-Duty Mechanic – Red Seal Certification
-Experience in mining and/or construction equipment repair & maintenance
-Experience using with Cat SIS and Cat ET software
-Forklift and/or telehandler certification
-Rigging experience and certification
-First aid ticket; any level
-Air conditioning ticket
-Experience filling out pre job hazard assessments
-Background using Trimble Fleet Management Systems; TMT
-Class 1 Vehicle License
-Air Endorsement for Vehicle License
-Commercial Vehicle Inspection Ticket
-Day to day activities include:
-Being a safety conscious individual with a priority on organization & communication.
-Perform troubleshooting and repairs to a wide range of mining, paving/construction and on-road equipment.
-Completion and follow through on all technical documentation; work orders, shift crossover emails/notes, parts quoting and all company safety programs or documents; THINK Forms, ODIR’s & SSSSSDS.
-Work with and take direction from supervisors on various required tasks.
-Report to work at the designated start time, ready to work
-Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-works, supervisor and the general public (always)
-Partake in companywide 5S organization program at all locations
